Raul Montes – Senior Counsel
Raul M. Montes has more than 37 years of experience practicing law with an emphasis in the areas of trusts, probate, real property, and business law.
Raul engages in a wide variety of fiduciary, estate, trust, and conservatorship litigation involving multi-million-dollar estates, including will and trust contests, disputes between trustees or executors and beneficiaries, fiduciary issues (complex accountings, tracing, and breaches of duty), and financial elder abuse. His practice also includes all aspects of estate planning, probate and trust administration, and conservatorships.
Raul also engages in a general civil practice and litigation emphasizing real property and business matters. In the area of real property, Raul has extensive experience negotiating leases and purchase and sale agreements, and litigation involving title disputes. He has represented parties, brokers, and agents involving breaches of contract, fraud, and other breaches of duty. Raul’s experience encompasses a broad range of issues, from disputes between adjoining landowners to defending landowners against claims of groundwater contamination by the Environmental Protection Agency, including obtaining insurance coverage. In the area of business law, Raul’s practice includes formation of business entities and litigation involving all areas of disputes, including disputes among business owners.

Raul attended the University of California at Los Angeles and earned his B.A. in economics in 1978 and his J.D in 1981. Raul is Spanish-speaking, was born in Queretaro, Mexico, and was raised in Southern California. Raul is married to Laurie and has four sons.
